Joris van Velzen comes from a small village in the Netherlands. He studied linguistics before emigrating to the USSR in 1989, where he first worked as a correspondent and then sold his soul to the devil and switched to advertising photography. Since 2007, Joris has lived in Berlin and spends his time photographing both things and people (as long as they don't move too fast). After shooting almost exclusively for advertising for the past 25 years, Joris now picks up the camera more often for personal projects, both digital and film.
